Frogtown Volunteer Incentive Program - FAQ

Why is the club starting a Volunteer Incentive Program?

The club relies on volunteers to function, and we want to increase the number of people that are part of that volunteer pool. The first step we need to take is to increase the transparency of volunteer opportunities – which is why we are starting a clear posting system for those opportunities. We know our members want to help, and we need to share with them how to do that.

We looked into how other clubs address volunteer incentives, and many add a cost to their members that members can get removed by signing up for enough volunteer activities. We did not want to add more costs to our members, as that did not seem like the Frogtown spirit. But, we do need many volunteers to keep things running – so we are looking to reward you instead!

I volunteered for a work night, and it was two hours long. Do I get two frogs?

Frogs are given per event, rather than per hour, to keep tracking simple. This way, you just need to show up and add a sticker by your name, and don’t need to track all the time you spent. Events with longer time commitments (example: organizing a bonspiel) are given higher frogs values to reward that longer time commitment.

We know that this will mean the frogs may not seem perfectly "even"  – the intent is to provide an easy rewards system that shows our appreciation for your time.

Why are there different tiers of frogs for different events? How did you decide which volunteer events were in each tier?

While we did not want to make folks track their volunteer hours, we know that there are some volunteer opportunities that take more time than others. For example, organizing a supply drive takes a lot of time and coordination outside of the actual event itself, and we want to reward that with a higher frogs value.

We assigned categories of events to each tier based on the estimated time commitment it takes and the value to the club for having that role filled. Again, it’s not perfect but we wanted to keep it simple.

How do I know how many frogs a volunteer opportunity is worth?

Frogtown will post the number of frogs you can earn for the opportunity when posting the opportunity to the Frogtown bulletin board & website.

What if I’m doing some volunteer work for the club that isn’t listed? Who do I contact to determine frogs and get credits?
