Here's a great article that was published about our beloved Frogtown Curling Club and its members!
Information on the upcoming curling season at Frogtown
Hello Frogtown Curlers,
The curling season is upon us, our first group of the season is next week, our first event is next weekend, and league play starts Wednesday October 23rd.
It’s been a busy summer at the club. By now you all know that we expanded to 6 sheets, that project should be 95% complete by the time leagues start, with some finishing touches to be completed over the next couple of months. The hockey arena formerly known as The Biff Adams Arena is GONE, Frogtown Curling Club is now truly a dedicated curling facility. Thanks to ALL who played a part, big or small, in this accomplishment, we could not have completed it without all the volunteer help.
All of our leagues are full! Open registration was a couple of weeks ago, we had 20 openings in our regular leagues, and they filled in 7 minutes! We also added a half season Sunday league at 8pm, all but one slot filled in several hours, that one slots is now full as well.
League start dates, Wednesday 10/23, Thursday 10/24, Sunday 10/27, Monday 10/28, Tuesday 10/29, Friday Mixed 11/1.
All team league fees have been paid, now we need to you to pay your individual club membership fees. So please visit the clubs website, login(or create an account), and follow the instruction on the main page on how to do this. Please encourage your fellow team mates to do this as well, this is our best way of getting an accurate count of our membership as well as email addresses and the waiver signed. At this time we only have approx. 140 memberships paid out of 500-600 members.
Some upcoming events:
Club Clean Up : Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday 6:00 pm (October 14th, 15th, and 16th) on top of our regular work group, we also will be cleaning the club. We have a lot to do, unload the storage container out back, removing stuff from the locker rooms, moving furniture, vacuuming, dusting, washing windows, etc. So please stop by any time after 6pm if you’re able to help.
Members only Learn to Curl: we will be having a learn to curl for our NEW curlers Monday 10/21 from 7-9pm. This is intended for those new members who have never participated in a learn to curl or group event in the past. There will be a short off ice presentation followed by on ice instruction. Click HERE to register. Volunteer instructors needed please email Gretchen at email@example.com if you are able and willing to help.
The TCCA Invitational: This is a traveling event and will be at Frogtown next weekend, Friday 10/18 - Sunday 10/20. We need 6 volunteers to help with a draw to the button competition to be held Saturday evening between 5-7pm. Volunteers will be helping measure and recording the results, food will be provided and all volunteers are welcome to partake. Please email Gretchen at firstname.lastname@example.org if you’re able to help.
Spiel of the Dead – Croak at the Moon: is approaching fast, Friday 10/25 - Sunday 10/27, while registration is full, you’re all welcome to stop by and check out the festivities, food and drink day passes will be available. The spiel is also looking for some volunteers to help over the weekend: ice crew and hosting spots are open, just contact the manager e-mail if you can help. I’m lead to believe that there will be a “special guest” performance Friday evening that you won’t want to miss.
Didn’t get in the Spiel of the Dead? But are looking to get in an early season bonspiel? Look no further than the Frogtown Fall Classic, held 2 weeks after the Spiel of the Dead, Friday 11/8 – Sunday 11/10. Registration is open on the website under the “events’ tab.
Also, as you may have heard, Frogtown Curling Club will be partnering with Saint Paul Public Schools to provide youth curling programs for the 2019-2020 season! The Fall program will be offered on six consecutive Saturday mornings between 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. (11/16, 11/23, 11/30, 12/7, 12/14 and 12/21). This program is open to all children between the ages of 11 and 17 and costs only $36/child. ANY child may register whether they attend Saint Paul Public Schools or not and you do not have to be a member of Frogtown Curling Club for your child to participate! Additional programs are also being planned for the Winter/Spring. Registration and information are currently available Online at https://stpaul.ce.eleyo.com/course/8884/fall-2019-youth/youth-curling. Volunteer instructors are also needed to help out with our upcoming youth curling programs. Please email Ed Clark at Edward.email@example.com if you are able and willing to help.
Drew Arnold from the Friday Mixed league has an offer for the membership. He’s put together a tour of Scotland, for Jan/Feb 2020, that includes bonspieling at two venues, private distillery tours & tastings, and visits to some of Scotland's most iconic landmarks. He’s looking for beta testers to provide feedback so is providing the tour at cost. You can see the itinerary here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6yq0qwntghe5rcy/RST-brochure.pdf. If interested contact Drew at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I’m excited and looking forward to the season, Good Curling!
We have filled our leagues in record time. If you are a member of a 2019-20 registered team it's time to complete your club membership registration and payment.
If you are a skip or a person that registered a team for the 2019-20 season, you also need to share this information with your teammates. You may be the only way they get this information until they have a website account and club membership. (Be sure to tell them the team name you used at registration!)
The team league fees have already been paid, so only the membership fee is due from each club member. You also have the option to pay for and reserve a locker, but they are limited in number so don't wait.
If you are on a registered team or wish to join the club as a social member, log into the website first (create an account if necessary). You should be redirected to the "Member's Home" page, but if not you can cick the main menu item or this link: Member's Home (Log in to Site First!)
When completing the membership registration, you will select the league nights for which your team is registered. It is important that you enter your Team Name and Skip Name for your team(s). If you are on multiple teams, select and enter information for every league you are in before completing payment. If you do not have a designated skip please use the name of the person who registered your team.
If you have any questions or issues, please e-mail email@example.com....
