Volunteer at Frogtown!
Frogtown is a community that is heavily reliant on volunteers to keep the club running, and that takes each and every one of us. We don't have an hours requirement or donation requirement, but we still do have the expectation that each team will chip in and do their part to help out around the club. If you've never volunteered with the club before, come on out and join us for the first time! It's a great way to get to know more people around the club and you can earn incentives throughout the season.
We're always in need of help with:
- Learn to Curl instructors!
- Groups are an important part of our operation here, and we need people to introduce new curlers to the sport in a safe and fun environment.
- No teaching experience necessary, if you'd like to get on the list please email Carrie at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
- Bonspiel volunteers!
- Every spiel needs a spirited crew to keep the food and drinks stocked for our guests, keep the club clean, and make sure that curlers have a great time at Frogtown
- Shifts are typically Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday for 3-4 hours. We are most in need of volunteers for Thursdays, late shifts, and Sunday afternoon.
- Bonspiel Organizing!
- Do you love throwing parties or coordinating trips? Bonspiels require some advance planning to make sure they run smoothly on the spiel weekend.
- We're always looking for people to shadow a current spiel and eventually take the reins in the future
- Teams encouraged! Organize the weekend with people you know you'll have fun with.
- Interested and want to learn more? Talk to Ben Ecklund
- Bonspiel Raffle Prizes
- Don't have time to donate your labor to the club? Donate a gift basket for a bonspiel raffle!
Your first opportunity for bonspiel volunteering is coming up October 23-25 with our annual Spiel of the Dead. Come hang out with all your favorite costumed curlers and volunteer for a shift. Raffle prizes can be brought to the front desk during the annual meeting on October 20th or during leagues on October 21 and 22.
New this year: a friendly competition between league nights. The league with the highest percentage of teams volunteering throughout the year will win a prize! What's the prize? We're still figuring that part out...
Have another way you'd like to volunteer that you don't see listed? Merch ideas, building skills, marketing prowess? Email Volunteer Coordinator Ryan Mintz at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and he'll help get you plugged in.
2026-27 League Play Reminders
With league play beginning in the next few weeks, the Board has a few reminders to pass on about rosters, subs, and gameplay:
Rosters
The list of team members on Frogtown’s website is considered the official roster.
NEW this year: team rosters must include at least four and no more than six registered, paid members. For the 2026-27 season, rosters may be changed for any reason up to January 15th, 2027.
Teams must have four rostered players by this date or will not be eligible to play in the Club playoffs. Teams that registered more than six players before the beginning of this season will be exempt from the roster cap for the 2026-27 season.
After January 15th, roster additions will be subject to Club Manager approval. Acceptable reasons include a teammate moving away, season ending injury/illness, birth/adoption of a child, or other similar circumstances that would end someone’s curling season (at the discretion of the Club Manager).
Subs
Teams may use a maximum of two subs per game and must have at least two rostered team members. Subs can play at or below the normal position of the missing player (so if your third is missing, the sub can play lead, second, or third position).
If your team needs a sub, Frogtown members are preferred. Teams are allowed to use a non-member and share the Frogtown experience, but only for a maximum of two games per season.
The best way to find a sub or be a sub is the #need-a-player-be-a-player channel on the club Discord server. Requests can get filled fast, so keep on your toes if you’re interested in subbing more this season.
Buzzer
Buzzer rules for 2026-27 will remain the same as 2025-26. The buzzer is a warning that the end of your game is approaching, and the two skips should quickly confer and agree on how the game can reasonably be finished by the two-hour mark.
