Annual Meeting Recap
Thanks to everyone who was able to make it to this year's annual meeting on Tuesday. We hope everyone is excited for a great 2026-27 Frogtown curling year!
A few key takeaways from that meeting:
[this section will be updated on Wednesday morning]
Preseason Reminders
Club Playoffs
As in previous years, the top 8 teams in the Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday leagues will qualify for the Club playoffs. Each league night will play a three-round bracket to determine the league champion over three weeks beginning the week of February 28th. The 11 League champions and 5 wild cards will compete in a two-day tournament on April 1st and April 3rd to determine the Club Champion.
The remaining 6 teams in each league will compete in the 2nd annual Biter Bracket for each league, with the league champions also advancing to an event on April 3rd.
Report your results!
Winning Vices/Thirds! Make sure to circle your team name on the whiteboard after your game, before you leave the club. If we can't figure out who won a game by the end of the season, it will be recorded as a loss for both teams.
Rosters
Rosters of 4-6 players must be locked in by January 15th for your team to be eligible for Club playoffs. Any necessary changes after that date will require approval of the Club Manager.
Check your rosters under Members->Teams, Schedules, Standings (must be logged in). If something is not right (either you have someone on the roster who shouldn’t be, or someone who isn’t on the roster who should be), please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to get that fixed. The online roster is your official team roster for playoff purposes.
Subs
You may have a maximum of two subs per game and must have a minimum of two rostered players for each game. Subs may play at or below the position of the player they are replacing, however subs cannot throw last rocks. If you want your sub to call the game, they can, but they must throw lead, second, or third rocks while doing so, and a regular team member must throw last rocks.
The #need-a-player-be-a-player channel on Discord is a great resource for any sub needs you may have, but please give potential subs as much lead time as possible.
Forfeits/Makeup Games
If you know you cannot field at least three players for a game, please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and your opposing skip as soon as possible to coordinate. Open ice for makeup games is extremely limited, especially late in the year, so please do everything in your power to avoid forfeiting. You can find your opposing skip's email address under the Teams, Schedules, and Standings section of the Member Center.
Buzzer
Buzzer rules for 2026-27 will remain the same as 2025-26. The buzzer is a warning that the end of your game is approaching, and the two skips should quickly confer and agree on how the game can reasonably be finished by the two-hour mark. Remember, the goal is to get games done within two hours of ice time, not necessarily finish eight ends.
Late leagues: this applies to you as well! Please be mindful of your opponents and the club manager and finish your games within two hours.
Practice Ice
Want to improve your game with some practice time? Keep an eye on our Practice Ice Calendar.
Practice Ice is most commonly available when there are group reservations for learn to curls. Groups vary in size, so there will be a limited number of sheets available. All posted practice ice time is free for members and available first come first serve. Sheets cannot be reserved for practice time.
Since we're working with limited sheets for practice availability, members are expected to share sheets when necessary. Especially during busty practice ice times, please pair up, triple up, or more to make sure everyone who wants to practice can. If you see someone looking for a sheet, please invite them to join yours if you have space.
Not sure what to work on? There's a practice box above the coat rack that has drills, cones, and other practice tools to help you out.
What's the best way to get practice ice? Sign up to teach a Learn to Curl and stick around for a bit after your teaching duties are finished. Email Carrie at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to get on the teaching mailing list.
